Visa Stamping

Visa stamping is the process of obtaining a physical visa sticker in your passport at a US embassy or consulate abroad. This is required for entering the US (or re-entering after travel abroad). The visa stamp shows the visa category, validity period, and number of entries permitted. Important: the visa stamp only controls entry — the I-94 controls how long you can stay. Stamping typically involves an interview, with wait times of 1-60+ days depending on the embassy. Third-Country National (TCN) stamping in Canada or Mexico is possible for some visa types.
