The K-1 fiancé(e) visa allows a US citizen's foreign fiancé(e) to enter the United States for the purpose of marriage. The couple must marry within 90 days of the K-1 holder's arrival. After marriage, the foreign spouse applies for adjustment of status to permanent residence. Processing time for the K-1 petition (I-129F) is currently 8-14 months. The couple must have met in person within the past 2 years (with limited exceptions). Filing fee is $535. The K-1 holder cannot work until they receive an EAD after filing for adjustment of status.
