公共料金（ユーティリティ）
ユーティリティとは、電気、ガス、水道、下水、インターネット、ケーブルテレビ、ゴミ収集など、住居に不可欠な基本サービスの総称です。NYC の公共料金は、高い生活費とインフラの老朽化により全米平均を上回ります。
NYC の主な供給者には、Con Edison（電気・ガス）、National Grid（ブルックリン・クイーンズ等のガス）、NYC Water Board（上下水道）、Spectrum や Verizon Fios などのインターネットプロバイダーがあります。住宅のゴミ収集は NYC 衛生局が担当します。
海外から移住する場合、ほとんどのサービスの契約にソーシャルセキュリティナンバーまたは ITIN が必要です。米国のクレジットヒストリーがない場合は保証金を求められることがあります。NYC の一般的なアパートの月額ユーティリティ費用は 150〜300 ドル程度です。賃貸物件では水道や暖房が家賃に含まれる場合もあるため、契約前に確認が重要です。
