The EB-1 is the highest-priority employment-based green card category with three subcategories: EB-1A (Extraordinary Ability — no employer sponsorship needed), EB-1B (Outstanding Researchers/Professors), and EB-1C (Multinational Managers/Executives). EB-1A applicants must demonstrate extraordinary ability through sustained national or international acclaim — typically evidenced by awards, publications, high salary, or media coverage. Current processing times are 6-12 months with premium processing available ($2,805). EB-1 visas are current for most countries except India and China.
