The E-2 Treaty Investor Visa allows citizens of over 80 treaty countries to live and work in the United States by investing a substantial amount in a US business. There is no fixed minimum investment, but most successful applications involve $100,000 to $200,000 or more. The visa is initially granted for up to 5 years and can be renewed indefinitely in 2-year increments. E-2 holders can bring their spouse (who can work freely with an EAD) and unmarried children under 21. Unlike the EB-5, the E-2 does not directly lead to a green card.
