米国の教育制度
米国の教育制度は、小学校（K-5 年生、5-11 歳）、中学校（6-8 年生、11-14 歳）、高校（9-12 年生、14-18 歳）の 3 段階に分かれています。義務教育は州によって 6 歳から 16 歳または 18 歳までです。
公立学校は地方の固定資産税、州の補助金、連邦援助で運営され、無料で通えます。私立学校は授業料が必要で、宗教系、進学校、インターナショナルスクールなどがあります。NYC には約 1,800 の公立学校に加え、多数の私立・チャータースクールがあります。
海外からの家族にとって、米国の教育制度は母国と大きく異なる場合があります。課外活動の重視、GPA ベースの成績評価、高校からの大学出願プロセスなどが特徴です。多くの地域で ESL プログラムが提供されており、一部の学校では国際バカロレア（IB）プログラムも利用可能です。
