OPT（オプショナル・プラクティカル・トレーニング）
OPT は、F-1 ビザの学生が専攻分野に関連する職種で米国内就労が認められる期間です。標準 OPT は最大 12 か月で、卒業前（プリコンプリーション）または卒業後（ポストコンプリーション）に利用できます。
STEM 分野の学位取得者は 24 か月の延長が可能で、合計最長 36 か月の就労が認められます。STEM OPT 中は雇用主が E-Verify に登録し、正式なトレーニングプラン（I-983）を維持する必要があります。
OPT は USCIS が管理し、学校の DSO を通じて申請します。処理に数か月かかることがあるため、早めの申請が重要です。OPT 開始後 90 日以内（STEM OPT は 150 日以内）に就職できない場合、在留資格を失うリスクがあります。OPT は H-1B など長期就労ビザへの橋渡しとして重要な役割を果たします。
