Une fois aux États-Unis avec le visa K-1, le fiancé(e) doit se marier avec le citoyen américain parrain dans un délai de 90 jours. Après le mariage, le conjoint peut demander l'ajustement de statut vers la résidence permanente. Le couple doit avoir l'intention sincère de se marier et avoir eu une rencontre en personne au cours des deux dernières années.
