Die I-130-Petition ist der erste Schritt im familiären Einwanderungsverfahren. Nach der Genehmigung durch die USCIS wird die Petition an das National Visa Center weitergeleitet, wo das weitere Verfahren koordiniert wird. Die Genehmigung der I-130 bedeutet nicht automatisch die Gewährung einer Green Card; es muss auch ein Einwanderervisum verfügbar sein.
